PC Card (or PCMCIA) technology allows computers to interface with each other using less space than conventional interfaces. Currently, most applications are in the personal computing market, to enhance peripheral capabilities. Faisal Haque is Design Engineering Manager at Baynetworks in Santa Clara, California and has been involved in PCMCIA design for the past four years. He is currently the chair of the PC Card ATA Working Group and has contributed to the 1995 PC Card Standard.

Hi I am the author of this book. While there are many good books on PCMCIA, the glaring need was for a book that would cover the needs of the designers w/ concrete examples. The PCMCIA standard leaves many options open to the designer, I have also tried to provide designers w/ the trade-offs for making certain choices as well as provided recommendations on what most people in the industry have been doing.
