This book is the Third Edition of K.J. Gilhooly's widely adopted text on the intriguing and challenging topic of thinking. It provides an up-to-date review of a wide range of research and theory aimed at increasing our understanding of thought processes.
In this new edition, there are extensive changes to incorporate recent developments in the field that have occurred since the second edition. Coverage of the following has been introduced or significantly expanded: analogical problem solving; expertise; propositional reasoning; 'evolutionary' approach to reasoning; theories of decision making; theories of creative thinking.
The book will be of interest to all cognitive psychologists and cognitive science students and researchers.
About the Author
Dr. Gilhooly is Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. He has published extensively in the psychology of human thinking, and has held numerous research grants in that area. His current research interests focus on the role of working memory in reasoning, planning and creative thinking; and cognitive processes in medical problem solving.
