Synopsis
Natural language generation research has been boosted in hte past decade by an increased engagement in the prolems of constructing coherent and purposeful texts wiht computers. In the course of this research many linguistic formalisms have been adopted. This book provides a snapshot of the state of the art in natural language. It gathers the leading U.S. and European NLG researchers and sets them in the context of five themes-text planning, linguistic realism, building realization, building descriptions, and conectionist approaches.
