Synopsis
Transporting 35,000 British troops and their equipment from Europe to Saudi Arabia was a huge operation. What followed was an even greater challenge. This book is the British Army's account of its involvement in the containment of Iraqi aggression and the liberation of Kuwait. The author had access to Army files and documents and interviewed over 100 soldiers of all ranks who went to the Gulf, as well as key decision-makers back home. Extensive use of anecdotes and quotations gives the story immediacy and also reveals aspects of an army's experience before, during and after war that do not normally reach the public's attention.
