Synopsis
Soil stabilization is the process whereby soils and related materials are made stronger and more durable by mixing with a stabilizing agent. These techniques are used for road construction in most parts of the world, although the circumstances and reasons for resorting to stabilization vary considerably. In industrialized densely-populated countries, such as Great Britain, the demand for aggregates has come into sharp conflict with agricultural and environmental issues. In less developed countries and in remote areas the availability of good aggregates of consistent quality at economic prices may be limited.
