Synopsis

This series "25 Cycle Routes" provides routes, each specially selected for interest and enjoyment and has been cycled by the author. The maps are supported by information boxes which include: distance in miles and kilometres; start and finish points with Ordnance Survey references; type of terrain; and facilities en route. This title describes routes using many minor roads with such a negligable amount of traffic that make these routes ideal for cycling. Some routes are connected by using off road tracks and parts of the Forth and Clyde Canal towpath. The routes cover the entire periphery of Scotland's largest city and visit a variety of locations, including Milngavie to Mugdock Country Park and Balloch to Drymen on the outskirts of the city, also the former great shipbuilding centre of Clydebank.

From the Inside Flap

With a Foreword by the CTC

Whether on official cycle paths, abandoned railways or quiet country roads, these rides bring a fresh perspective to the areas covered. With useful cycling tips, easy-to-follow instructions and specially prepared colour route maps and photographs, the 25 Cycle Routes series can be used with confidence.

The book describes 25 cycle routes in Scotland's largest city and its surrounding countryside. From the semi-rural charm of the Forth-Clyde canal to the wild heights of northern Ayrshire; and from the parklands of Mugdock and the Carron Forest to the Edwardian grandeur of the City Centre, the variety of rides is wide and unexpected. Much to tempt experienced and novice cyclists alike.
