Synopsis
This report aims to familiarize potential users with the current and future high speed networking technologies and to explain how they fit into the Open Systems structure. It shows how high speed networks can be used to support new and existing mixed media (multimedia) business applications and highlights the benefits to potential users. The report also examines how the networking industry is responding to the need to supply new high speed network facilities and evaluates the latest proposals for even higher transmission speeds and related enhancements to network control facilities.
