Software lifecycle support is a co-ordinated approach between developers and IT infrastructure management to the activities of supporting software development from its initial design through to its ultimate decommissioning and disposal using a software lifecycle model. The purpose of this text is to provide IT infrastructure management with an understanding of software lifecycles, and to explain how they can be used to build in good practice for IT infrastructure managers, and how the lifecycle support processs can improve the quality of delivered IT services to customers.
