Synopsis
Glamorgan is famous for the remarkable number of castles within its boundaries, they occur here in greater density than in any other region of the British Isles. This volume is the first of two devoted to the historic defensive structures of this country. It contains full descriptions of all the castles established before 1217, including Cardiff, Ogmore and Coity, and gives comprehensive accounts of their history. Illustrated with photographs, scale drawings, perspectives, reconstructions and maps, this inventory will be an invaluable addition to Welsh topographical literature and to the study of military architecture.
