David Mckee is well-known to many parents and children through his series of books featuring King Rollo as well as Elmer the elephant. King Rollo has been entertaining children and parents alike for over 20 years and his appeal is as strong today as ever.
The Adventures of King Rollo contains four stories--King Rollo and the New Shoes; King Rollo and the Birthday; King Rollo and the Bread and King Rollo and the Tree, although these are not new stories they still retain their freshness and ability to entertain. The King Rollo stories are known for their educational element in attempting to teach basic life skills to children but are told in such away that they are hugely entertaining as well.
The text and illustrations are laid out in an almost comic book format, which means there are lots of pictures to look at with only a small amount of simple text, making these stories ideal for beginner readers as well as for sharing with younger children who will enjoy following the stories through the illustrations.
