Also included is the much admired essay-story Looking at Kafka. Organised thematically in three parts, the Reader presents the full range of Roth's mastery.

About the Author
Philip Roth was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1933 and educated at Bucknell University and the University of Chicago. His first book, Goodbye, Columbus, won the US National Book Award 1960 and was made into a highly successful film. His other books include the international bestseller Portnoy's Complaint, The Ghost Writer, Zuckerman Unbound, The Anatomy Lesson, The Prague Orgy, The Counterlife (winner of the 1987 National Book Critics' Circle Award), Deception and Patrimony. His latest book, Operation Shylock, is published by Jonathan Cape.
