Synopsis
Written by the trainer Lucy Rees, this practical guide draws on her wide experience of horses to illuminate a mind and a language wholly different from man's. The book explores the reasons behind the horse's natural likes and dislikes, fears and habits, showing how their love for company has led to a sensitive and complicated use of signals. The "bad" behaviour of horses, says Lucy, is due to misunderstanding on man's part, and to their being kept in unnatural conditions that cause them stress and unhappiness. She offers a fresh approach to training and dealing with "problem" horses that uses the horse's natural behaviour, and encourages harmony and communication between horse and human.
