David Rorie had an unerring ear for the Scots that he heard around him in his work as a general practitioner both in Fife and in the Northeast of Scotland. He is best known for his poems - not least The Lum Hat Wantin' the Croon - in which he uses the Scots language with striking effect. But he also wrote extensively in prose, and in this book William Donaldson presents a selection which .reflects Rorie's interests and experience, the variety of his humour and the energyof his writing.
