Biographical introduction by Nan Shepherd. Chronology of Murray's life and a list of publications. Glossary and index to rear. This is a collection of the complete poems by the Scottish poet Charles Murray (1864-1941), who wrote in the Doric dialect of Scots. He was one of three rural poets from the north-east of Scotland, the others being Flora Garry and John C. Milne, who did much to validate the literary use of Scots. 'Hamewith' is his best known work. The word 'Hamewith' means Homewards in English, and the poem reflects his expatriate situation. The book is bound in the original red cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board and spine. Light wear to covers. No inscriptions. Excellent condition.
