Synopsis

This volume shows how to design a network for Lotus Notes replication. Replication also pose unique security problems that the book tackles as well. Also included is how to incorporate the Internet into a Lotus Notes network using Domino technology. Lotus Notes is a replication technology which allows people at different locations on a network to work on the same document. Notes's replication technology may be useful for Notes users, but it can be difficult to use for network managers and administrators. The CD-ROM contains network design and administration tools previously proprietary to IBM.

Synopsis of "Network Design for Lotus Notes and Domino"
SYNOPSIS "Network Design for Lotus Notes and Domino" describes the different ways to approach network design for Lotus Notes and Domino, for both Release 4 and 5 of the products. IBM's implementation of Lotus Notes and Domino over its corporate enterprise is used as a reference throughout the book. The topics include design methods to provide effective replication, mail routing, bandwidth management, dial access, connection to outside domains, gateways, network and application management, and security for Lotus Notes and Domino over the enterprise. Advanced topics such as naming standards, address books, data repositories, and remote monitoring are discussed in detail. Methods for leveraging the Internet for many of the network requirements of Lotus Notes and Domino are emphasized throughout the book. The CD-ROM contains many of the enterprise Notes applications developed for IBM's internal rollout of Lotus Notes and Domino for over 200,000 users.
