About the Author

T S Madhava Rao was formerly Professor and Head, Electrical Engineering, University of Roorkee from 1968 to 1977 and was on the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the same university from 1952. He recently returned fro a foreign assignment as Head School of Engineering and head, Electrical Electronic Engineering department, Acuhi Polytechnic, Nigeria.

A Ph D from the University of Manchester, he has also worked with the Hyderabad State Electricity Department and the English Electric Company, Stafford, UK, now GEC Measurement (Ltd). He is Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (UK) and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), as well as former Chairman of the Relays Sectional Committee: Indian Standards Institution (now Bureau of Indian Standards) till 1977. He has done extensive research and development work in static relays and has authored numerous research papers.
