Suitable for one semester or one-quarter beginning accounting courses, such as, Financial Accounting, Principles of Accounting, Introductory Accounting, Small Business Accounting; Computerized Accounting; or Accounting Information Systems taught at universities, community colleges, vocational-technical schools, and some high schools. Computer Accounting Essentials using QuickBooks for the Web includes step-by-step instructions for setting up a merchandising business from scratch. Using this business to demonstrate the features of the software, the accounting cycle is completed for the fourth quarter of the year.
Students complete end-of-quarter adjusting entries, close the fiscal year, and then begin the next year. This provides students the opportunity to complete the accounting cycle for six accounting periods - the fourth quarter and the first quarter. This is valuable training for future accountants, entrepreneurs, and managers.
