In each chapter of every book, the prewriting and structure activities build toward a specific writing task. Editing is a regular, integrated step in the writing process, even at the beginning level.
Grammar structures are chosen due to their relevance and bearing upon the specific writing task that students are practicing. The grammar exercises also serve as models for writing.
Various writing samples appear within the structure and editing exercises, giving students a variety of examples to learn from.
Chapter-culminating journal writing topics allow students to synthesize what they have studied and practiced in the chapter.
Each annotated Teacher's Edition includes specific teaching notes and chapter quizzes.
