Synopsis

This course has two current teaching challenges - good database design and a skills-development approach. Mannino has a wealth of worked out examples (using Access and Oracle database applications) along with a rich number of student projects that require manipulation of sample databases. This pedagogy builds skills via hands-on work. In addition, Students must know how to design database applications and support their designs with Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD's). This text is written for use in the core MIS database management course taken at the undergraduate level. This course combines lecture and hands-on projects as the preferred teaching structure. Instructors will be looking for coverage of database management topics with a focus on developing a database application by the end of the course.
