For all those who can benefit from multimedia but lack the computer knowledge to do so (artists, musicians, publishers, educators, advertisers and marketing personnel), this detailed introduction covers the full spectrum of multimedia issues - including system requirements, performance specifications, hardware and software sources, installation procedures and operation tips. This guide discusses multimedia basics; Macintosh and PC operating environments; graphics, sound, video and authoring software; display monitors, scanners and input devices; storage devices and CD-ROM drives; graphics, video and MIDI sound controllers; and electronic and high-end multimedia publishing. The accompanying disk contains commercial multimedia demonstration and shareware programs.

Somewhat useful, but pretty old
I was very proud of this book - among other things it included my wife's bound in diskette containing her excellent hypertext "A Midsummer Night's Dream" annotated version of the play with all the characters and old words explained.
Despite the title, this was really a guide to artists who wanted to learn how to produce multimedia and a guide to computer techies who wanted to learn to be multimedia artists - it was never intended for the average home user.
It would actually still serve as a pretty good guide for non-techie artists - only some of the computer specifications have changed.
