Closed loop characteristics found with minimal math.
Welcome to everyone concerned with feedback loop stability who, like me, does not claim to be a mathematical genius. In this book SPICE and a computer have already done all the hard math and the results are presented in seven sets of design curves which allow you to determine peaking and step function overshoot in minutes or even seconds! Most simple and moderately complex linear loops are covered, including those with transport lags. If you have tried root locus methods on one of the latter I think you will particularly appreciate the curves in chapter 16. The analysis is so simple that more attention than usual can be given to the many practical aspects of loop compensation.
