The course is at the senior level and is intended for mathematics, physics or engineering majors who have completed a semester of ordinary differential equations and vector analysis or, alternatively, a year course at the junior level of the type often called "applied mathematics," or "advanced mathematics for engineers and physicists". No previous knowledge of partial differential equations is required. The book gives an introduction to the theory of linear partial differential equations.
