Chloe has ten older brothers and sisters and ten younger brothers and sisters. She’s in the middle and she loves it—especially when they all gather for family fun time.
But when Dad brings home a surprise one evening, Chloe finds she is not in the middle anymore . . . but not for long!
With gorgeous colored-ink drawings and funny, spare text, Peter McCarty tells a winning story of family, imagination, and love.

"Drawn in delicate pen-and-ink and watercolors, McCarty's impeccably cute creatures seem to hover magically in midair, like little balloons in some fantastical, vaguely Japanese idyll. ...After this ode to imaginative play among siblings, we can understand why Henry fell so deeply in love."--New York Times Book Review
"In CHLOE, McCarty captures the charm of a large squashed-together family, just in time for summer reunions."--Boston Globe
"What elevates this is McCarty's fabulous art, which brings the idea of a really big family delightfully to life. A warm and wonderful treat that's great for family story hours."--Booklist (starred review)
"Still bewitching, yet serious about her strong opinions, Chloe continues to stand out in a crowd."--Publishers Weekly (starred review)
"The gentle, child-friendly artwork complements the story told with minimal text. The result is a calming bedtime story for family sharing."--School Library Journal (starred review)
