This book is a must for the amateur who wants to be convinced that he can confidently approach the prospect of building his own dream boat. With the support of many diagrams and sketches, Ian Nicolson teaches all the skills necessary to create anything from a small cruiser to an impressive 75-foot yacht.

"The majority of the work in this book is done with fiberglass, although wood is used in the construction and in the trim. Creating a boat involved dreaming, scheming, scheming, drawing, planning, ordering materials, measuring, marking, double-checking, sawing, fitting, fastening, fiberglassing and cleaning up the mess." -- The Ensign "The Ensign, April 1999"
Ian Nicolson joined Alfred Mylne the Second as a full design partner at the age of 31. These two very different personalities worked together for 20 years to produce a variety of craft. At the same time, Nicolson set up a boat survey organisation which became the most successful in Scotland, so that he went all over the world doing surveys. Ian has had 23 books published and many hundreds of technical articles. He has had his own magazine column since 1955.
