Synopsis
This updated edition provides students with a background in continuous-time analog classical control concepts. Design examples at the end of most chapters support the text's strong design orientation, as do discussions of design methods using root locus and Bode methods that go beyond rote memorization. An expanded, more versatile treatment of modelling includes a comprehensive variety of electrical, mechanical and electromechanical systems. This gives instructors the option of emphasizing dynamic modelling, or using a system approach. Time domain compensation (an international design method) and pole placement (an important new design method) have been added. Row shifting is covered for Routh arrays, and several advanced topics such as loop transfer recovery and HY methods are also now covered.
