"Donna Gelfand is Professor of Psychology at the University of Utah. She received a Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis on clinical psychology at Stanford University in 1961, and completed a clinical internship at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto. While working as a psychologist at the Community Mental Health Service of San Jose California she also taught at San Jose State University. Then she joined the faculty in the psychology department at the University of Utah, first serving as director of the department's child clinic, then coordinator of the developmental psychology program, chair of the department of psychology, and dean of the college of social and behavioral science. She studies the effects of maternal depression on children and how these adverse effects can be counteracted.
