Synopsis
Developed from a 1984 conference sponsored by Wayne State University School of Medicine, Harper-Grace Hospitals, and the Kresge Eye Institute, this book presents 17 expert research papers prepared especially for publication. These essays from a short textbook on the latest developments in understanding embolization of the retina and of the optic nerve, particularly as it relates to treatable disease of the carotid system. Also stressed is the importance of communication between ophthalmologists and vascular surgeons in establishing the relevance of carotid disease to eye pathology. In addition the book includes useful discussion of the best ways of working up patients with these problems.
