Synopsis
Designed for students taking a course in the teaching of strings, this text covers the entire string family and covers all popular methodologies. Stressing a "learn-by-doing" approach, the book should help the student to acquire the necessary skills for teaching strings, from basic concepts through actual performance. It is divided into six sections: general information on string instruments, including care and upkeep; buying or renting an instrument, sources for music etc; developing string programmes in schools; early instruction; solos, etudes and ensembles; intermediate class and advanced instruction. The book also addresses modern technology, including computer-aided instruction, video and audio instruction, as well as amplification of string instruments.
