Synopsis
In a near-future city built on faith and lies, two outcasts attempt a daring high-tech heist.
After a century of natural disasters and global conflict, the city state of Jerusalem endures as a haven for exiles, extremists, smugglers and spies.
Clementine, a European refugee with uncanny technological abilities, and Levi, an ambitious young criminal, are employed by one of the city’s most prominent politicians for a high-tech heist.
But none of the conspirators is what they seem. And their target – an artefact in the city’s great museum – is stranger, more ancient, and more dangerous than any of them could have imagined.

About the Author
Greg Chivers has twenty years of experience as a television producer, working on shows such as the Science Channel’s What on Earth? and NASA's Unexplained Files, which made global headlines in 2017. He is a graduate of the Curtis Brown creative writing course and the Faber Academy. The Crying Machine is his first novel.
