About the Author
J.R.R.Tolkien (1892-1973) was a distinguished academic, though he is best known for writing The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, plus other stories and essays. His books have been translated into over 30 languages and have sold many millions of copies worldwide.

The Hobbit: Green cloth binding, gilt spine lettering, front cover decoration, 289 pages, plus map to rear and sensational illustrations and glossy colour plates from Alan Lee the book is in near fine condition. The dust jacket is also near fine with some minimal creasing to the top edge. Volume 1 The Lord of The Rings (Complete in one sensational illustrated volume): Brown cloth binding, gilt spine lettering and front cover decoration, 1193 pages, several maps to rear, sensational full page glossy plates by Alan Lee the book is in near fine condition. The dust jacket is also near fine with some minor creasing to the top edge. The slip case is good to very good with some creasing and a small tear to the paper overhanging flap at the base.
