Synopsis
After supper Nancy took a torch and went for a walk alone. Chief came padding over from the stable and nuzzled her hand. The wind whistled down the valley and tossed the treetops... A shiver ran up Nancy's spine. Suddenly, a long weird whistle sounded in the direction of the meadow. From among the bordering trees - as if in response to the whistle - galloped a white, filmy horse! The phantom!

About the Author
Carolyn Keene is a pen name used by a variety of authors for the classic Nancy Drew Mystery series. The first author to use the pseudonym was Mildred Wirt Benson, who wrote 23 of the original 30 books. Other writers who have adapted the "Carolyn Keene" moniker include Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Walter Karig, and Nancy Axelrod.
