• 'Richly comedic … like a WASPish version of Roth's 'Portnoy's Complaint' … this novel is dangerously funny.'
DAILY EXPRESS
• 'O'Brien is at his best in this macabre black comedy … dark, clever, extremely funny. The desperation of a man for whom any woman will do … is poignantly and hilariously captured.'
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH
• 'Genuinely funny … a complex and enthralling novel.'
NEW STATESMAN
• 'A manic, often hilarious, narrative of discovery which shows how deeply a man can misunderstand himself and those around him.'
TIMES LITERARY SUPPLEMENT
• 'Ingenious … hilarious but oddly moving.'
SUNDAY TIMES

'One of the best books I've come across in years. My advice is that you waste no time on this review. Go out and find a copy of 'Tomcat in Love'. Now. It really is that good … a wickedly accurate portrait of obsessive love that manages to be both fiercely comic and profoundly moving. Read it and weep. And laugh.'
DAVID NICHOLSON, 'Washington Post'
