From the Back Cover

Angel is house-sitting ( like baby-sitting but you don't have to keep the noise down) for a relative of his landlord when a body drops in through the bathroom skylight.

Being caught with a corpse, a young lady in bed and a suspicious package in the house of a total stranger- no problem. But when the corpse turns out to be an old fellow student trying to cut loose from an Animal Rights splinter group, things get complicated. Especially when the suspicious package disappears (and the owner wants it back- 'badly' and Angel discovers that Animal Libbers are far from cute and cuddly.

But the time he starts 'really' worrying (Rule of Life No. 38) is when the policeman get nicer. Helping them might put our trumpet-playing, cab-driving hero on the side of the angels, but is anybody on his?

"Mike Ripley is one of the best things to have happened to British crime fiction for years".
'Birmingham Post'

"Third infectious appearance of Hackney-based Fitzroy Maclean Angel and a treat in store for those who have not bumped into him previously".
' The Observer'

"Boisterously enjoyable".
'The Guardian'
