Susan Brookes was thrown out of cookery classes at school – for talking. She now makes her living by combining the two, as the cook on Granada TV's flagship programme ''This Morning'', Britain's highest profile daytime TV show.

Susan started her career as a teacher, writing features for her local newspaper, in her spare time. In 1980 she applied for a job with Granada Television as a Local Programmes Researcher and worked on several programmes before moving in front of the cameras to present 'Late Night From Two' with Shelley Rohde. A suggestion that all food programmes on television were too posh led to the successful launch of 'On the Market' and to a career in cookery for Susan. From there she joined ''This Morning'' for the very first show and has been with the programme ever since.

Between filming Susan manages to write a regular column for Dalesman magazine and Inside Soap. She also appears on Yorkshire Television's 'Tonight', and on various programmes for the Granada Goodlife channel. Susan has several books including 'This Morning Countdown to Christmas' and' Get Cooking' with 'This Morning. '

Susan lives in Long Preston North Yorkshire with her husband Warwick Brookes. They have two daughters, Gilly and Sophie.
