Publisher's full purple buckram covered boards titled in gilt to spine, in illustrated dust jacket. The book is clean tight and unmarked with some age spotting to top page edges, else fine. Unclipped dust jacket has some soiling, some loss to laminate at edges and short tears, some fading to spine. A controversial BBC series was created based on this novel but was never re-aired due to concerns of the way the Scottish National Party was portrayed as supporting violence though in 2010 SNP leader and First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond told the author Hurd that it was one of his favorite novels.
