Seller: Rural Hours, La Grande, OR, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. First edition. The British edition, and a great association copy, inscribed on the title page: "To John Graves, Jim Harrison." Graves is "perhaps Texas's most beloved writer," best known for the environmental classic Goodbye to the River, his account of his farewell canoe trip down the Brazos River, which was soon after dammed. This book comes from collection of Bill Wittliff, book designer, typographer, photographer and screenwriter from Austin Texas, who founded the Witliff Collections at Texas State University where John Graves's papers are now held. (Witliff apparently had one of John Graves's paddles from the Brazos journey hanging above his desk.) Legends of the Fallis of course Jim Harrison's best known book, comprised of three awesome novellas, the titular one made into a blockbuster movie starring Brad Pitt. Maroon cloth with gilt lettering on spine. Very good with a slight lean to spine, a few finger smudges to pages 4-5, and a little foxing to the top edge of the text block. In a very good jacket tan jacket (possibly uniformly toned?) and with light edgewear to corner and spine ends. A standout association between outdoor writers of renown, and certainly the most interesting copy of Legends of the Fall we've seen in awhile. Seller Inventory # 1883
