From the Back Cover

AN ATLAS AND ENCYCLOPAEDIA IN ONE!

Visually stunning throughout, this exciting and fact-packed atlas contains a wealth of information on almost every subject on Earth – from natural history, Earth science and environmental issues, to ancient and medieval history, peoples of the world, farming, religions, art and architecture.

Subject areas are divided into three sections – Planet Earth, Wildlife of the World, People and Places.

Each subject is brought to life by fabulous colour artworks, superb photographs and beautifully illustrated and informative maps.

The fourth and final section is an Atlas of the World, with colourful relief maps of the seven continents, plus facts, figures and a national flag for each country.

With 40,000 words of clearly written text, accompanied by 450 fabulous colour artworks, 100 superb photographs and 60 pictorial and location maps, this stunningly illustrated atlas provides a wealth of information on a vast range of subjects.

As much an encyclopaedia as an atlas, it is designed for children with inquiring minds and a thirst for knowledge, ideal both for dipping into or for answering even the most probing questions. The book is divided into sections as follows:

PLANET EARTH
An exciting exploration into how our Earth was formed, the natural forces that shape the land, the effects of climate and weather, and how we are damaging our precious environment.

WILDLIFE OF THE WORLD
A detailed look at the fabulous range of plants and animals that share our planet, from creatures that scale the mountain peaks to those that lurk in the ocean depths.

PEOPLE AND PLACES
A fascinating study of the human world which focuses on ancient and medieval history, historic voyages, festivals and religions, buildings, art and culture.

ATLAS OF THE WORLD
Fully indexed, detailed relief maps of each of the seven continents with facts, figures and flags for each country.
