With the increase in the development of the advanced cellular communication system, it is assumed that several sectors, such as the health industry, education, transport industry, business model, and so on, will rapidly grow. However, the requirements of the above-mentioned sectors are different and difficult to fulfill. Hence, 5G will be integral to several networks and will also need a unique management system for its successful rollout around the globe.
5G-Based Smart Hospitals and Healthcare Systems: Evaluation, Integration, and Deployment provides an overview of the role of advanced technologies in transforming the healthcare industry. It emphasizes the technical requirements of smart hospitals and the technologies associated with them along with explaining how technologies such as IoT, machine learning, and AI can be integrated with smart hospitals and 5G networks. The book evaluates several concerns such as privacy of data, infrastructure costs, and regular upgradability of technologies. Since the storage of information is a major concern with the implantation of 5G-based hospitals, this book will specifically address those issues along with examining the potential pitfalls of 5G-based hospitals and the factors that cause their failures.
This book specifically targets professionals, academicians, engineers, researchers, management firms, technical institutes, R&D establishments, and individuals researching in the fields of 5G, healthcare, medical sensors, IoT, big data, and related fields. The main objectives of this book are to accumulate state-of-the-art IoT, 5G, AI, and machine learning-based approaches for resolving healthcare problems.

About the Author
Dr. Arun Kumar received his Ph.D. in electronics and communication engineering from JECRC University, Jaipur, India. He is an Associate Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering at New Horizon College of Engineering in Bengaluru, India. Dr. Kumar has a total of 10 years of teaching experience and has published more than 82 research articles in SCI-E and Scopus Index journals, 2 books and 3 International patents (granted). His research interests are advanced waveforms for 5G mobile communication systems and 5G-based smart hospitals, PAPR reduction techniques in the multicarrier waveform, and spectrum sensing techniques. Dr. Kumar has successfully implemented different reduction techniques for multi-carrier waveforms such as NOMA, FBMC, UFMC, and so on, and has also implemented and compared different waveform techniques for the 5G system. Currently, he is working on the requirements of a 5G-based smart hospital system. He is a member of the IEEE and a reviewer for many refereed, indexed journals. He was the Lead Guest Editor of the Special Issue Journal titled “Advanced 5G Communication System for Transforming Healthcare” in the Journal CMC-Computers, Materials and Continua (Q2, SCI, Scopus, Impact Factor: 3.7). He has served as Co-Convenor, Technical Programme Committee (TPC) Member and Reviewer in various International Conferences such as ICPCCAI-2019, ICPCCAI-2020, IEEE ISMAC (2018), ESG2018 and so on.
Dr. Sumit Chakravarty currently works as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Kennesaw State University. He has completed his doctoral studies from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and his Master of Science from Texas A&M University, Kingsville, both in Electrical Engineering. His Ph.D. dissertation is on the analysis of Hyperspectral Signatures and Data. He has multiple peer-reviewed journal publications, conference publications, a book chapter, and three granted patents (and one under review) besides the current work under progress. He has used his expertise in remote sensing by working as a scientist in the industry wherein he also worked on other sensor modalities commonly used in remote sensing like Multispectral, Lidar, and SAR. This includes working with a cross-disciplinary team comprising specialists from industry, government bodies like NASA, Goddard, and academia at the University of Maryland. His other industrial experience in engineering and research includes working in various roles such as Instrumentation Engineer for Triune Projects, Research Intern at Siemens CAD and Apex Eclipse Communications, Scientist for SGT Inc, and Lead Scientist for Honeywell Research (Automatic Control Solutions-Advanced Technology Labs). Some of his relevant experience includes instrumentation and plant logic design, noise reduction in communication systems, vibration analysis for equipment health monitoring, flare steam control loop design and modeling, image/video signal segmentation and analysis, and the use of statistical techniques for remote sensing and medical CAD applications.
Dr. Aravinda K. currently works as a Professor and the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru, India. He has completed his doctoral studies at Amrita University, his Master of Science at Newport University, and his Master of Technology from VTU, Karnataka. He has multiple peer-reviewed journal publications, conference publications, and a book chapter. He has nearly 18 years of Industrial experience in the Telecom domain and 16 years of experience in Academia. He has received the Faculty Excellence Award, the Honor Award, the Certificate of Outstanding Contribution, and the Long Service Award at the national and international levels.
Dr. Mohit Kumar Sharma earned his Ph.D. in Electronics & Communication Engineering from JECRC University, Jaipur (NAAC Accredited) in 2022. He completed his Master of Technology from Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur in VLSI Design in the year 2014. He has published several articles in reputed international journals. His research area is wireless communication, 5G waveform, and Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA waveforms) with optimized PAPR algorithms. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Vivekananda Global University (A+ Accredited, NAAC), Jaipur.
