You struck out. You know you'll replay it at 11pm. You've been doing this your whole career.
Every teen baseball player knows this feeling, the mistake that follows you off the field, into the car, into dinner, into the next morning's practice. You "flush it." You tell yourself to move on. And then you lie awake at midnight running the same pitch on repeat. Nobody taught you how to actually put it down. They just told you to.
I carried a bases-loaded strikeout looking in a playoff game for two full years. Not because I wasn't tough. Because nobody handed me the language for what I was carrying, and baseball culture doesn't exactly have a support group for that kind of thing.
That's why I wrote this book.
5-Minute Weekly Sports Devotions for Teen Baseball Players is 52 weeks of real talk built around real MLB stories (Trea Turner, Kershaw, Mariano Rivera, Kirk Gibson, Mookie Betts, and more), real Scripture, and the one conversation most coaches never start: what do you do with the mistake after it happens?
Not a highlight tape. Not a pep talk. Not another "believe in yourself" speech that sounds good in the locker room and means nothing at 11:47pm when the replay is still running.
This is the reset.
Each week is five minutes — one real player's story, the truth underneath it, a practical reset move, a prayer that actually fits the week (not the kind that works in any book, this one belongs to this at-bat), and one reflection question that'll probably sting a little. In a good way.
Over 52 weeks across 6 phases, you'll build the identity before the season can set it for you. You'll learn what to do when the strikeout follows you home, when the slump moves in, when God feels silent in the off-season, when the lights feel too bright, when the game gets taken from you. You'll learn that the grind nobody films is where everything is actually built. And you'll learn slowly, week by week, how to play free.
Play free. That's the whole thing. Not reckless. Not careless. Free. The at-bat belongs to you. The mistake already happened. The only question now is whether you're gonna carry it to the next pitch or put it down.
This book teaches you how to put it down.
And why the God who made you is the only one who can actually take it from you.
