Discover the meeting of East and West through the daily wisdom of Bede Griffiths.
Bede Griffiths (1906–1993) was a Benedictine monk who journeyed to India and embraced the contemplative riches of Hindu spirituality while remaining rooted in Christ. At his ashram of Shantivanam, he became a bridge between cultures and religions, a prophet of dialogue, and a witness to the universal Spirit. His life and writings invite us to see Christ as the Cosmic Lord shining in all traditions and creation itself.
365 Days with Bede Griffiths: The Christian Yogi of Shantivanam offers daily meditations inspired by his vision of unity, silence, and love. Each day provides a short reflection to guide prayer, open the heart, and illuminate the path of contemplative living. From the rhythms of the liturgical year to the wisdom of the Upanishads, from the peace of Shantivanam to the mystery of the cross, this book will accompany you throughout the year in your own spiritual journey.
In this book you will find:
-
365 daily meditations weaving together Christian faith and Eastern wisdom.
-
Teachings on silence, simplicity, unity of religions, and the cosmic Christ.
-
Practical invitations to prayer, trust, compassion, and joy.
-
A guide for contemplative living in dialogue with all creation.
Whether you are new to Bede Griffiths or already cherish his writings, this book will nourish your spirit with daily reminders of God’s presence, leading you into the heart of divine love.
About the Author
365 Days Press in collaboration with Jonathan W. Reed
Jonathan W. Reed is a contemplative writer whose vocation has been shaped by the dialogue between East and West. For more than twenty years, he has immersed himself in the writings of Christian mystics, the wisdom of Hindu and Buddhist traditions, and the prophetic witness of Bede Griffiths. His path has led him to monasteries, ashrams, and silent retreats, where he has experienced firsthand the transformative power of stillness, prayer, and interfaith encounter.
Reed’s work centers on the conviction that God’s presence is not confined to one culture or tradition but shines in the depths of every heart. Through his collaboration with 365 Days Press, Jonathan W. Reed shares this vision of unity and contemplative depth with readers worldwide. His hope is that these daily meditations on Bede Griffiths will help each person discover the hidden presence of God in silence, in creation, and in the unending mystery of love.
