Item description from seller

Detailed color map attached crucial instructional manual designed to introduce soldiers to basic cartography and reconnaissance skills. FM 21-25 provides detailed guidance on interpreting topographic maps and aerial photographs, an essential skillset for field operations, artillery, and navigation during WWII. It teaches reading contour lines, terrain features, and landmarks, as well as aerial interpretation techniques relevant to battlefield intelligence. Issued during 1941, the manual was fundamental to training soldiers in modern warfare strategies where battlefield visualization was increasingly critical. Produced by the War Department, the manual helped solidify standardized training in visual reconnaissance. Top of spine cover has tear/small piece missing (see photo), otherwise no writing or marks on cover or in the text.
