Your first Model Y should feel exciting. Learning to use it should feel manageable.
You have the car. Now you want to know where to begin: how to set up your phone key, find the controls you need, choose a charging routine, and understand what the screen is telling you.
2026 Tesla Model Y User Guide helps first-time owners turn those questions into practical steps. Written for the US-market refreshed Model Y, this independent illustrated manual follows the tasks you face from delivery day through everyday driving and longer journeys.
Inside, you will learn how to:
- Prepare for your first drive: work through delivery checks, adjust your driving position, and locate essential controls.
- Set up dependable access: understand phone keys, key cards, driver profiles, and the difference between nearby entry and remote app commands.
- Navigate the touchscreen: find settings, manage everyday tasks, and understand software updates.
- Build a practical charging routine: understand charge limits, schedules, home charging, and Supercharger stops.
- Plan journeys with range in mind: interpret arrival estimates and account for weather, driving conditions, and charging access.
- Understand assistance and recording features: learn their purposes, settings, and limitations, including Dashcam and Sentry Mode.
- Know what to check when something goes wrong: follow practical guidance for maintenance, common problems, and roadside situations.
See what you are learning. Annotated photographs, explanatory diagrams, and practical checklists support the instructions. A glossary and page-numbered index help you return to the information you need without rereading the whole book.
Whether you are collecting your first Tesla or settling into your first electric vehicle, keep this guide nearby as you build your everyday ownership routine.
