About this Item
Keith Haring (May 4, 1958 - February 16, 1990) was an artist and social activist whose work responded to the New York City street culture of the 1980s. Haring achieved his first public attention with chalk drawings in the subways of New York, these were his first recognized pieces of pop art. His bold lines, vivid colours, and active figures carry strong messages of life and unity. Between 1980 and 1989, Haring achieved international recognition and participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Haring was committed to his desire to make his artwork available to as wide an audience as possible, and received strong support for his project from friends, fans and mentors including Andy Warhol. (Source: haring.com)/ This poster is advertizing a 1998 Keith Haring exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts. It features a 1988 drawing for "Headstand" with a green figure interlocked with an orange character drawn in the artist's typical style and a colourful palette. The thick lines in a primitive style are his specialty; one critic remarked that his works don't look as if they were drawn, painted, engraved or sculpted, but rather carved-like petroglyphs from ancient cave dwellings./ Poster is unlined and in good condition. This poster measures 26.5 x 36.5 inches. Seller Inventory # KBE1069
