"A landmark scholarly edition of Scottish folk music, this second volume of the Greig-Duncan Folk Song Collection presents narrative songs gathered from Northeast Scotland in the early twentieth century. Compiled by schoolmaster Gavin Greig and the Reverend James Bruce Duncan, this is considered Scotland's most significant manuscript collection of folk song. Volume 2 covers songs numbered 186 to 329, including ballads, comic songs, and traditional narratives, complete with musical notation, scholarly notes, a glossary of Scots words, and indexes of titles and singers. An essential reference for ethnomusicologists, folklorists, and anyone interested in Scottish cultural heritage. Author/Editors: Patrick Shuldham-Shaw & Emily B. Lyle (eds.)
