"This book has been compiled to illustrate, in a way which it is hoped will be informative and decorative, some of the works for which the Firm has been responsible over its long history" (Introduction). Original navy cloth with the Firm's modern colour logo to the front, orange-titled to the spine 24x29cm. 114pp with colour and b/w drawings, maps, sections, plans, and photos throughout. Covers very good, interiors near fine with previous owner's name pencilled to the ffep (D J Fisher 1968). Rare with Worldcat and Library Hub recording 10 locations between them. This is undated, but it marks the Firm's 125th anniversary in 1963 (p7) and includes projects completed or in progress up to 1963. Although there are several early projects, major overseas and domestic works since the 1950s are significantly represented, suggesting it was produced for promotional purposes rather than as a comprehensive company history. Thus the early years (1838-1913) are covered in a brief opening chapter (pp9-16). The rest is organised into chapters on Docks, harbours, wharves, and jetties; Bridges; Roads and railways; Pipelines; Airports; Power stations; Hydraulic structures; Other structures; Mechanical plant; Harbour craft. A final chapter describes the Firm's present constitution and organisation. Of the overseas projects, those in the Middle East are strongly represented, followed by South and SE Asia and Africa, with a single reference in South America. Details per project include client, brief description, services provided, date completed (or in progress), and cost, with several accompanying illustrations. MIDDLE EAST: Middle East Pipeline and Terminal Surveys; Kuwait (Kuwait Oil Company North and South Piers at Mina-al-Ahmadi); Iraq (Basrah Petroleum Company Deep Water Offshore Terminal; Baquba and Nasiriyah bridges; Haifa-Baghdad Railway Survey; Iraqi State Railways); Palestine (Haifa Harbour, Jaffa Lighter Port); Jordan (Aqaba Port and extension; Amman - Maan Desert Road; Jordan - Hedjaz Railway; Amman Airport Extension; Jerusalem Airport improvements); Iran (Anglo-Iranian Oil Company Aden Oil Harbour, Jetties at Bandar Mashur, several other projects in Britain and abroad for AIOC / BP, and the Trans-Iranian Products Pipeline System for the National Iranian Oil Company). AFRICA: Ghana (Takoradi Harbour; road bridges; roads; Achiasi-Kotoku Railway Extension); Nigeria (Gongola River Bridge; Bornu Railway Extension); Sierra Leone (railways and roads). S/SE ASIA: India (Madras Port; Haida Dock; Paradeep Port; Howrah Bridge; Cassipore, Delhi Central, Nagpur, and Kalyan Power Stations; port cranes and rolling stock; harbour craft); Burma (Ava, Sittang, Waw, and Pazundaung Bridges; Paung Chaung Aqueduct; railway rolling stock improvements); Malaya (Perak River HEP Scheme); Pakistan (Karachi Port); AMERICAS: Chile (roads).…

DELIVERY DEADLINES: If you have a hard deadline for receipt that is before the processing time stated on Abe, eg, if you need it to arrive urgently before you travel or before a particular event, please contact me at the time of order to advise, so options can be discussed and steps taken to ensure it gets there in time.
RETURNS: Please return any items for refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date, and contact me first with the reason for the return to establish whether postal costs will be included in the refund. If the item is not as described, I will cover the original and return post.
