Company Overview
AbeBooks is the world’s largest online marketplace for books.
AbeBooks makes it simple and safe to find and buy—or list and sell—new, secondhand,
rare, and out-of-print books online. Bookbuyers love the variety of over 110
million books offered by 13,500 booksellers. This great selection
delivers value for all: readers find bestsellers, collectors find rare books,
students find textbooks, and treasure hunters find books they’ve been seeking
forever.
Booksellers love AbeBooks for providing the tools to help them succeed online.
AbeBooks offers a range of services including dedicated support, HomeBase inventory
management software, and five international sites to reach global markets (AbeBooks.com,
AbeBooks.co.uk, AbeBooks.de, AbeBooks.fr, AbeBooks.it, Iberlibro.com). In November, 2005, AbeBooks acquired BookFinder.com - a leading price comparison shopping service dedicated to books. In February 2006, FillZ, a book inventory and order management company that helps booksellers offer books through online marketplaces, was acquired. In May 2006, AbeBooks took a 40% stake in Librarything.com – a book cataloguing and social networking site for bibliophiles. In February 2008, AbeBooks launched Gojaba.com - a new no-frills, low-cost online marketplace for secondhand, rare and out of print books in emerging markets. Sweden and Russia were the first markets to be served. In April 2008 AbeBooks acquired Chrislands.com - a service that builds, hosts and maintains online bookstores.
By creating a secure and easy-to-search database and maintaining high standards, AbeBooks has established a dynamic online marketplace for books, and a community that booklovers return to, again and again.
