Title: Seven Simeons, a Russian Tale
Book Condition: Very Good
. Hardcover. Cassell, 1947; 2nd edn. with dust cover in fair condition, worn along edges and spine and two closed tears; oatmeal coloured cloth in near-mint condition; elegant 2-colour line drawings on each verso, text on recto. This is an old Russian folktale. It is the story of the great King Douda, than whom there was never a king wiser, or richer, or stronger. And never a king more handsome. It is the story, too, of seven brothers who lived peaceably within the realms of King Douda. They lived so modestly that few people realized their abilities: that one could build a tower higher than the clouds in the twinkling of an eye, that another could build a ship that would sail in a single week where an ordinary vessel would take ten years. Four of the other Simeons were capable of equally great accomplishments. The seventh was loath to tell of his. Now more than anything else in the world King Douda wanted a Princess whose beauty was worthy of his own. So he rewarded six of the seven Simeons handsomely and set them to work to find a Queen for the kingdom. The seventh brother, however, was locked in a dark, damp place. But without the seventh Simeon the other six would have served the great King Douda's purposes in vain. 10x7½". . . . . Books ship from the US and Ireland. Bookseller Inventory # KEB0001389
