Frontispiece illustration with caption reading, "Cousin Sukey," said Little Columbus, "I want to ask a fa favor of you." Text of book starts on page 9. First state therefore. Book has honest wear but basically a decent copy for a book for the younger reader of that era. Front cover in tan cloth with illustration of young boy reading a book on way to or from school. Spine with fraying at head and foot but design of the spine still very bright. Cloth with some soiling, especially on back cover. Brown endpapers and internal hinges not cracked. Name of a former owner on first blank endpaper dated 1913. Frontispiece tissue protected and clean, as is the title page. Sporadic soiling to the pages of text, but it is never severe. Plates clean (one with soiling/age spot in blank margin only). All plates present as called for. Book is square and tight in the binding. Eight pages of ads at back. Bookseller Inventory # 1975
