Autograph letter signed ("J.G.T. Sinclair"), 1p. 8vo (mourning paper), Cannes, 7 December 1873. "I cordially approve of what you are endeavouring to attain with reference to the abolition, or at any rate the reform, of the noxious & most discreditable system of voting for charities" - and he will give him any support he can. John George Tollemache Sinclair (succeeded as third Bt 1868; 1825-1912) was MP for Caithness, 186- 85. Sir Charles Trevelyan (Bt 1874; 1807-1886), an ardent campaigner, had contributed to the December number of Macmillan's Magazine on "Charity Electioneering". Seller Inventory # 19M100187
