The coloured maps, never mind the diagrams, feature a Parish Map borrowed from Hugh S. Gladstone's A Catalogue of the Vertebrate Fauna of Dumfriesshire (1912; 225 copies only printed), a Generalised Relief Map, a Rainfall Map (Leadhills, 60-80in annually) and maps showing Distribution of Mountain and Moor, Distribution of Sheep (highest density: Glencairn, with 32,130 animals = 107 per 100 acres), Distribution of Cattle, Distribution of Oats, and Density of Population (most populous parish: Dumfries, 3,065; least populous: Morton, 164).
